Since its establishment, Tifa has consistently worked to strengthen the role of civil society in protecting the rights of minority and marginalized groups; expanding the rights to freedom of expression and opinion; advocating for a free press; improving governance; and promoting transparency and accountability in the formulation and implementation of public policy; as well as through a number of other programs aligned with efforts to foster an open society in Indonesia.
Thanks to its efforts, the Tifa Foundation has now become a key player in promoting an open society, including the improvement of democratic standards and the fulfillment of human rights in Indonesia.
PHILOSOPHY
TIFA
The organization’s name is derived from “Tifa,” a drum-like percussion instrument used by indigenous communities in eastern Indonesia to summon local residents to participate in gatherings and/or other traditional ceremonies. This instrument is also used by indigenous communities to spread messages of peace and harmony.
The Tifa Foundation’s vision is “To foster an open society that promotes diversity, equality, and justice.”
